The Lubbock Police Department's Metro Special Crimes Unit has opened an investigation into the death of someone found at a local apartment complex, KAMC News reports.

Lubbock police were first contacted Tuesday night, Feb 2, at 8:30 p.m. by family members who requested a welfare check at a unit of the Ashton Pointe Apartments, located in the 300 block of Frankford Avenue.

At 11 p.m., Lubbock police notified the public that during their welfare check they had discovered a single body inside one of the apartment units.

The circumstances of the person's death has not been detailed yet, nor has the person been identified.
