Lubbock Police Arrest Gang Member Following Shots Fired Call
On Monday, April 4th, Lubbock police arrested a West Texas Tango gang member after responding to reports of shots fired.
LPD posted on Facebook that they received the call a bit after 3 p.m. It's said that shots were fired at a vehicle near 2nd Street and North Detroit Avenue, and when officers arrived at the scene, they noticed a vehicle with two people "acting very suspiciously."
Officers initiated a traffic stop and learned that one of the occupants, 34-year-old Eric Moreno, was responsible for the shooting. They also learned that Moreno was a West Texas Tango gang member.
Moreno was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, a 3rd degree felony, and Discharge of a Firearm in Certain Municipalities, a class A misdemeanor.
The Lubbock Police Department was assisted by the Texas Anti-Gang Center, the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
