Lubbock Native Jeff McCreight Releases Country Album
Have you ever heard of or been to Lubbock's Back 40 Grill? Maybe been to Rock City here in Lubbock? Then you're familiar with this man.
Back 40 Grill restaurant here in Lubbock that serves up pizza and American food. They also have a full bar, a patio and live music. And Rock City is a church.
The owner of that restaurant and the pastor of Rock City, Jeff McCreight, just released a country music album that you can listen to right now.
To some of us this might seem crazy, but McCreight has actually been performing in Lubbock for a while now and has been dreaming of creating a country music album.
His back story is that he was born in Houston but raised in Lubbock and has been singing since he was 5 years old. You may have heard him sing with his band Southern Conviction. They've played at the historic Cactus Theater many times.
I got to interview him on the show and learn a little bit more about his story. You may be asking, 'why now?'McCreight is 55 years old now and his brother lost his life at 56, so he said I have to do this now while I still can because it has always been a dream.
McCreight recorded three songs here in Lubbock and eight songs out in Nashville. The album Standing, which has 11 songs in it, was released in June 2022. His dreams have finally come true.
But he isn't stopping there. He wants to create more songs and even get them on the radio. McCreight said there have been a lot of pinch-me moments, but there will be more to come as well.
If you'd like to hear his album, you can check them out on any music platform here.
