On Saturday, August 21st, a shooting incident at Buddy Holly Park ended with 2 dead after it's said one ran the other over.

KAMC News reports that it happened a little bit after 10 p.m. in the 1100 block of North University Avenue.

2 witnesses say that they were fishing at the park when they heard a woman scream. They then saw her running away from a vehicle before it ran her over. The witnesses claim that a man got out of the vehicle, searched the area with a flashlight, then chambered a round and fired a single shot.

A 3rd witness at the scene said they saw the same thing, including the man afterwards walking away from the vehicle before coming back and attempting to get it off the woman. After that, the man allegedly walked over to the passenger side of the vehicle and another shot rang out.

When police arrived, they found that the man suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The woman underneath the vehicle was determined to have been both hit by the vehicle and shot.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the man was transported by EMS to University Medical Center where he would later be pronounced dead.

Police have identified the woman, but her identity has not yet been released to the public.
