Lubbock Man Arrested Just A Year After Previous Arrest
A Lubbock man was arrested for driving while intoxicated but he was previously arrested on more serious accusations. The Wolfforth Police Department states that 25-year-old Estevan Flores Jr. was arrested for speeding and failing to stay in a lane near the area of US Highway 62/82 and County Road 1300.
KAMC news reports that during the traffic stop is when the officer that initiated the stop smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle and noticed that Flores had glossy eyes. Aside from the physical signs Flores was also somewhat aggressive towards the responding officer and had noticeably slurred speech. After some time Flores admitted to police that he had been drinking some Twisted Teas before being pulled over.
It was revealed that Flores had previously been arrested back on May 10, 2022 after being accused of striking 24-year-old Gerardo Rios Jr. with his car. Rios was cross the street during a storm when he was struck by the vehicle. Rios was transported to University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased before arriving to the hospital. Flores reportedly was transported to Covenant Medical Center at the time of the crash for moderate injuries.
Flores was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on charges of Failure to Appear, Open Container, Driving While Intoxicated, and Criminal Negligent Homicide. As per the publishing of this article, Flores remains in custody at the Lubbock County Detention Center on a bond totaling $43,300.
