A Lubbock man who was under arrest tried to escape the patrol unit he was being transported in.

According to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began Monday morning, July 22nd, when deputies responded to a reported burglary in the 600 block of 114th Street.

Thirty-year-old Micha Bruton, along with one other person, were arrested because they matched descriptions given to authorities.

At around 10:20 a.m., while in the back seat of an LCSO patrol unit, Bruton allegedly tried to break through the window, forcing the deputy to pull over in the 3400 block of I-27. That’s when he ran from the vehicle. Bruton was tased by the deputy before he could escape. He was later transported via EMS to University Medical Center to remove the taser probes.

Bruton faces charges of attempted burglary, attempted theft, resisting arrest and trying to escape.
