Lubbock Man Arrested After Break-Up Attempt and SWAT Standoff
44-year-old Michael Solveson was arrested after a SWAT callout in Lubbock on Wednesday, October 26th.
KAMC News reports that Solveson had threatened the unnamed victim in the 2100 block of 99th Street after she tried to end a romantic relationship with him. It's said that Solveson responded by placing the muzzle of a gun to the victim's head and pushing her to the floor.
One of the victim's children woke to the sound of arguing and "the slide of the gun." That child hid in the closet and called the police.
Officers arrived at the house around 2 a.m. and were able to get both the victim and her child out without Solveson knowing. He was apparently making homicidal and suicidal threats the entire time negotiators were at the scene. He eventually left the residence and was taken into custody without incident.
Solveson remains in custody at the Lubbock County Detention Center for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Marijuana. His bonds total $65,000.
