The Lubbock City Council meets this afternoon (May 26) at 4:30pm, for a regularly scheduled meeting in the new Council Chambers, at Citizens Tower at 1314 Avenue K.

The Lubbock City Council will consider approving the Second Readings for 10 separate zoning cases, including zoning for new townhomes to be built at 1810 82nd Street, plus zoning for a new veterinary clinic to be built at 6515 4th Street.

In addition, the city council will also consider the First Reading of a zoning request for new duplexes at 8931 19th Street, which is near the intersection of 19th Street and FM 179 (Inler Avenue; pictured).

The city council will also consider another resolution re-affirming Mayor Dan Pope's latest Disaster Declaration in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Finally, the council will consider approving a budget amendment which will promote three additional Lubbock Police Department patrol officers to the position of sergeant. If approved, LPD will be budgeted to have 465 officers on the force, with 277 patrol officers and 65 sergeants.
