Lubbock City Council Set to Vote on New Police Chief
The Lubbock City Council on Tuesday is set to approve the appointment of Floyd Mitchell as Lubbock's next Police Chief.
Mitchell is currently the Chief of Police for the City of Temple.
According to a press release from the City of Lubbock, Mitchell was selected from a pool of 43 candidates:
Chief Mitchell has more than 29 years of law enforcement experience and is currently the Chief of Police for Temple, Texas. He completed a rigorous recruitment process that saw 43 applicants vie for the position. The process included video and in-person interviews as well as a public reception attended by more than 100 community representatives.
When approved, Mitchell will officially become Lubbock's 23rd Police Chief on November 11th, 2019.
