With Mayor Dan Pope's latest announcement of a stay-at-home order in Lubbock, misinformation was spread about how local police officers would be dispatched in handling the public that didn't stay inside their houses.

After hearing these rumors, the Lubbock Police Department wanted to clear some things up via an announcement on their Twitter account:

The Twitter thread details that the LPD will not be stopping pedestrians or vehicles as they travel about the city to investigate violations of the stay-at-home order. The department also says you will not need a travel permit to get around the city of Lubbock, and that any stops the police will make in Lubbock will be based on probable cause, just as they would before Mayor Pope's disaster declarations.

Even though the LPD isn't pulling you over for just being out, the statement concluded, "We encourage you to follow all laws, and stay home if you can!"
