(Lafayette, Louisiana) - A local family shared a photo of a precious little girl, admiring a Lafayette police officer, and now many on social media are admiring the photo.

The photo below shows Azura standing by a police unit with an officer inside, and she appears to be in amazement.

I am told by Azura's mother that she loves police officers, and anytime she sees a unit out on the roads, she stops what she is doing to admire its presence.

Perhaps we have a current police officer in the photo here, and a future officer in it as well. Sadly, Azura's grandmother shared a photo of her with the officer in a public Facebook group, and some even criticized it. She deleted the photo and then republished it on the page, and I applaud her for doing so.

Why Kids Should Be Introduced to Police Officers

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, introducing kids to police officers helps build trust, humanizes the officers, and teaches kids crucial safety tips. When a child interacts with police officers, it teaches the child that they can trust officers when in need of help and that officers are safe figures in society.

By introducing your child to a police officer at an early age, you can help ease their anxiety when they see an officer approaching, and it also teaches your child that they can trust police officers when approached in public.
