(Slidell) - As a firefighter, you never know exactly what you might get called out to help someone with, and instead of a fire, St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 firefighters saved a Shih Tzu puppy caught in a recliner.

Remember all those books when we were kids, about the firefighters who came out to rescue a cat stuck in a tree? Well, this was a little different. A man who was propped up in his recliner realized his Shit Tzu was stuck inside the inner workings of the chair!

Curious Shih Tzu Gets Stuck in Dad's Recliner

He contacted emergency professionals for help, and they truly did lend a hand. It took a little work to undo the parts of the chair where the puppy was stuck, but the story had a happy ending. The fluffy dog, after some work, was freed from the metal framework of the recliner!

As the ASPCA website points out,

These dogs are known to be clever but stubborn, and it can take longer to train them.

So, yes, it might take them forever to "decide" they don't want to explore the under portion of the recliner.

Dog Gets Into Recliner, and Firefighters Save the Day

It's obvious from the video that the dog's dad was holding their sweet baby while the firefighters worked to free her. It's probably safe to say this dog is NEVER going to try this again. Then again...........they are a stubborn breed, I know. When my Shih Tzu Gracie doesn't want to do something, she literally turns her head away from me and ignores me!

These sweet firefighters literally took that chair apart piece by piece to free that little girl's Shih Tzu!

She is fine, and the recliner is fine.

As they post,

She's with her family, happy and healthy! Animals are part of the family - that's why we always go the extra mile. Thank you to our crews!
