Clemson Fan Thanks Some LSU Fans for Hospitality, While Others Harassed Him

(Baton Rouge, Louisiana) - Many Clemson University fans attended the LSU-Clemson game in Baton Rouge last weekend, and one fan took the time to thank a certain group of fans after an unfortunate experience in Tiger Stadium.

Some fans are very passionate about their team, and that's fine, but when it goes overboard, you have to ask yourself, "Why?" Well, apparently some LSU fans didn't get the memo on Southern hospitality, as they made one Clemson fan's experience miserable in Baton Rouge.

Tim Cowan recently took to social media, hoping a group of LSU fans would see his kind words and thank them for standing by him in a very hostile situation at Tiger Stadium last Saturday night.

Cowan, who says he has attended many college football games around the country, says he knows some fans like to "poke" at opposing teams' fans, but what some LSU fans did last weekend crossed the line.

And I agree with him when he says that it's fine to have fun with other fans, but when you cross the line, that is a bit much. Like Cowan, I want opposing fans to leave with a positive impression and hope they'll return, but that may not be the case after his recent visit to LSU.

While some Tiger fans were rude and immature toward him during the game, Cowan says a few other LSU fans stood by him and kept checking on him to make sure he was safe, and he wants to thank them for their caring attitude.

The Clemson fan took a photo with the LSU fans who stood by him, and he wants to thank them for being "good sports"; he hopes his words reach them wherever they may be.

Like the visiting fan from Clemson, I too applaud these men for standing up for someone who likely feared for his safety, and to those fans who made him and others feel uncomfortable, SHAME on YOU!

Look, it's fine to poke at fans of the opposing team, but when you start to throw things at them and create a sense of insecurity, you have crossed the line, and you are not a true representation of the colors you may be wearing on that given day.

With football season just starting, this probably won't be the last time we hear or see opposing fans get harassed, but I hope it stops and no one gets hurt. After all, it's just a sport, and it's not that serious.
