2025 Lafayette and Acadiana Pumpkin Patch Guide for Families
(99.9 KTDY) - From now through Halloween, families will be venturing into beautiful pumpkin patches all around Lafayette and the surrounding areas, not only to get pumpkins but to take pictures.
Evidence of pumpkins being used as a food source in North America dates back approximately 7,500 years, according to Global Produce Sales. Those living in Mexico and the surrounding areas used pumpkins as a food source and for storage.

In colonial America, pumpkins and other gourds were also harvested as food sources. When Irish immigrants came to America, they brought with them their tradition of carving gourds and pumpkins into Jack-o-lanterns.
Now, many families visit local pumpkin patches to select their pumpkins for carving and to take family photos.
