The Dallas Cowboys Are The Most Valuable Sports Franchise In The World
Congratulations to Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys, you are number 1 once again! That's right Cowboys fans, forget about wins and losses, lack of playoff wins, lack of championships since the 1990's, and who needs a Super Bowl when you have the most valuable sports franchise in the world?
According to Forbes and their yearly article on the World's 50 Most Valuable Sports Teams, the Dallas Cowboys not only are number one on the list, they are also the first sports franchise to cross the 11-figure valuation. The Dallas Cowboys are worth an estimated $10.1 billion. Second place went to the NBA's Golden State Warriors worth an estimated $8.8 billion. The closest NFL team to the Cowboys? The Los Angeles Rams who rank #3 overall on the list worth an estimated $7.6 billion.
This is the ninth straight year that the Dallas Cowboys have topped the Forbes list.
How Much Other Texas Sports Teams Are Worth
While the Cowboys are the champions. A few other Texas based franchises landed on the Top 50 list. The NFL's Houston Texans ranked #18 overall being valued at $6.1 billion. The NBA's Houston Rockets tied for #37 being valued at $4.9 billion, and the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA ranked #42 overall with a value of $4.7 billion. No other Texas sports team landed on the top 50 list.
The Kansas City Chiefs made the list and proved that winning doesn't always mean you are worth more. The Chiefs ranked #39 overall with a value of $4.85 billion.
So while the Cowboys may not make the playoffs this year, don't worry Cowboys fans, the Cowboys are still #1 somewhere.
