Elon Musk seems to be a big fan of Texas as he is building another facility in the Lone Star State for Tesla. According to Reuters, Tesla is set to build a new megafactory just outside of Houston.

The new Tesla Megafactory will be a battery storage facility. The report states that Tesla will build and manage its Megapack energy products. The facility will reportedly be huge, coming in a One million square foot. The Megafactory will be built in Katy, TX and yes, Tesla is getting abatements from the county to build there according to Reuters.

Under the tax agreement, the company will receive abatements from the county based on property upgrades, including $44 million in facility improvements and $150 million in Tesla manufacturing equipment.

The new megafactory in Texas should create around 1,500 jobs the report states. Reuters also reported the Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, is working on growing Tesla's solar business and the battery business

According to CoveringKaty.com, Tesla Megapacks are used to store electricity for large renewable energy projects. For example, solar doen't produce energy when its dark outside and when the wind isn't blowing, wind energy isn't producing either. These Megapacks store power for use when renewables aren't producing.
