Here’s How Lubbock Citizens Can Learn More About Lubbock Law Enforcement
One of the most interesting and rewarding informational classes I've taken as an adult in Lubbock was the Lubbock Law Enforcement Citizens Academy. I took the course back in 2017 and it opened my eyes to the challenges and mission carried out by Lubbock Law Enforcement Agencies.
And soon, the Lubbock Law Enforcement Citizens Academy will begin a new class, and you can sign up.
The Lubbock Law Enforcement Citizens Academy is a 14-week academy that introduces citizens to law enforcement, prosecutors, and the different services and programs offered by the different agencies that work in Lubbock. The Texas Department of Public Safety, Lubbock County Sheriff's Office, Lubbock Police Department, and the Lubbock County District Attorney's office all partner together to offer this course.
Those who participate in the class will learn about topics like patrol procedures, SWAT, crime lab, aircraft operation K-9 unites, tactical driving and more.
So how do you apply? According to the press release, applying is easy, but must be done soon.
The Citizens Academy is designed to educate students about the daily safety challenges Texans face and how law enforcement and prosecutors function to protect and serve the state. The academy will be held at DPS, LSO, LPD, and the Lubbock County Courthouse offices. The public and the media are invited to apply for the academy. For an application, please visit the Facebook pages for the agencies or contact Sergeant Johnny Bures, DPS, or Corporal Patricia Holbert, LSO, using the emails below. The application deadline is 5 p.m. on February 19, 2024. The Facebook page for the DPS office in Lubbock is under Texas Department of Public Safety – Northwest Texas Region.
Meetings are held on Tuesday's from 6-9pm. If you have ever wanted to learn more about what law enforcement does, this is a great class to take.
