A beloved Mexican food restaurant with several Lubbock locations had a fire break out on Thursday.

According to multiple reports, the Rosa's Cafe located at 5103 82nd street had a fire emergency on Thursday evening.

According to a social media post, when Lubbock Fire Rescue crews arrived at the Rosa's Cafe location, crews saw flames coming out of the exhaust system. Lubbock Fire Rescue reported that the kitchen suppression system put most of the fire out in the kitchen area.

At one point last night, Lubbock Fire Rescue was warning the public to stay away from the area due to a fire still burning in the attic. Eventually, all flames were extinguished.

Due to the ansul system being activated, the Health Department of Lubbock has been notified. According to Lubbock Fire Rescue, when the ansul system is activated, it discharges a chemical to help extinguish fire throughout the kitchen. For that reason, the Health Department must respond.

No word yet on how long the Rosa's location at 5103 82nd will be closed. Once we get an update, we will pass that information along. Rosa's has 5 locations in Lubbock.
