Social Media Post Falsely Claims Rep. Jodey Arrington Is Hosting a Town Hall on Thursday
A social media post on Facebook has been circulating this week promoting a town hall event featuring Congressman Jodey Arrington. There's just one problem. There is no town hall event this and never was one.
On Facebook a post has been going around featuring what appears to be a legitimate event with Arrington's campaign logo prominently displayed. The image promotes a "Lubbock Town Hall" and says "Join Jodey Arrington for a Community Town Hall!" The image then lists Thursday, March 20 from 6-8pm at the District office address for Congressman Arrington.
But according to Arrington's office, there never was a town hall scheduled. And there is no town hall planned for this week.
KFYO's Chad Hasty took to Facebook to warn people about the scam invite.
No group has come out publicly about sending out this fake invitation. Across the nation, democrat activist groups are targeting Republican members of Congress and even causing disruptions at town hall events. Some are even claiming that Republican members won't hold town halls, so Democrats will.
There have been liberal groups locally pressuring lawmakers, including state officials, to hold town halls.
In short, there are no town halls scheduled by Congressman Arrington or any members of the Texas House or Texas Senate this week. Let you friends and neighbors know.
