Texas’ First Built-In Drive Thru Clinic is Super Convenient (And in Lubbock!)
It’s that time of year where everyone is getting sick. Whether it’s a cold, the flu, or covid, the changing of the seasons from warm to cold always throws everyone’s immune systems out of whack.
There is especially a lot of people seeming to get sick in Lubbock recently, and unfortunately, I fell victim to this season of sickness. After dealing with it at home for a few days, I figured it was time to seek some advice from a medical professional to see if I was on the right track and taking care of myself properly.
Knowing I didn’t want to have to wait for an appointment with my primary care provider, and also not wanting to sit in the lobby of an urgent care for who knows how long, I decided to check out the relatively new UMC clinic located at 98th and Frankford.
I picked this spot because it has special non-appointment based system that is meant to be easy, quick, and effective.
They have a built-in drive thru at the back of the clinic where you can simply pull up in your car, see a doctor for whatever problem you are having, and be on your way.
It is actually the first of its kind in all of Texas, and I think it is a fantastic design that should be implemented in more places. You get to stay in your car, have your vitals checked, speak with the doctor, get prescriptions, and more.
It is an especially great option for simply doctor's visits like a covid test, respiratory troubles, colds, the flu, or needing antibiotics.
I highly suggest checking it out if you are under the weather in Lubbock, and I think more clinics should be built with this design in the future.
