The solar eclipse is here in Lubbock, and everyone is excited.

I hope you’ve already grabbed your eclipse glasses, or you have plans to run and grab a pair as soon as possible. While you’re at it, there are a few great themed snacks you should also get.

Anything sun, moon, or space themed would work, but these are some quick and easy treats to pick up and enjoy:

  • Sun Chips
  • Milky Way
  • Capri Sun
  • Starbursts
  • Eclipse Gum
  • Moon Pie
  • Starry
  • Sonic Blackout Slush Float

The eclipse will start in the Hub City at 12:18 p.m., reaching maximum coverage at 1:35 p.m. It will then slowly lose coverage until the eclipse completely ends at 2:55 p.m.

The next Eclipse like this one wont happen for another 20+ years, so this is a great chance to see something you don't typically experience.

If you don't have eclipse glasses, you might be able to run to one of the following places and grab a pair, but many are likely already sold out.

  • The Science Spectrum is having a viewing party at 2579 S. Loop 289 and are selling glasses for $2.99 a pair in their gift shop
  • H-E-B located at 4405 114th Street is selling eclipse glasses
  • Home Depot is selling eclipse glasses by the self-checkout register
  • United Supermarkets will sell eclipse glasses at all its stores retailing for $2
  • Sonic is still selling their Blackout Slush Float that comes with a pair of eclipse glasses for $3.99
