With the weather warming up and people spending more time outside, it can often give you a bit of pet fever. I mean, what sounds more fun than taking your dog to the park to play fetch on a beautiful day? Or enjoying some iced tea while snuggling with your cat.

If you’ve been feeling this recently, then you’ve probably been on the hunt for an adorable pet to join your family. Of course, the best way to do that is to adopt, not shop, and there are so many amazing animals in need here in Lubbock.

If this suits you, then you’re in luck because after taking a break from adoption events in 2020, PetSmart is officially hosting their first National Adoption Week in two years. This event will take place in Lubbock this year on Saturday, March 11th, and Sunday March 12th, at 6046 Marsha Sharp Freeway.

Pet Smart has helped more than 10 million pets find homes through adoption, and it is great to see this event make its return.

If this weekend doesn’t work for you, there are always amazing pets available to adopt through local shelters and rescues here in Lubbock, and in surrounding areas. It is a huge step to add an animal to your family, so be sure you are prepared to take the best care of whatever animal you decide to adopt.

I especially encourage you to consider adopting an older animal. They are often looked over and passed on for the younger animals, but they are just as deserving of a good home and are sure to be a great addition to the right home.
