How Long Until Wichita Falls Starts to Cool Off?

Another day in Wichita Falls with a high of over 100 degrees. Looks like someone at the National Weather Service is looking ahead for when we can expect cooler temperatures.

Wichita Falls is under another excessive heat warning today. Remember to stay hydrated and avoid vigorous activity at peak heat hours. Seek medical attention if you or others feel faint, dizzy, or nauseous. Looks like we will be over 100 the next few days, but will be in the lower 90's this weekend. However, our friends at the National Weather Service had to remind us, we're in for the long haul.

Wichita Falls Cooler Temperatures Are 68 Days Away

The National Weather Service over in Norman, Oklahoma called us out last night. Saying we have quite some time until we will have a high below 90 degrees. According to their models, September 13th is when we can expect to have a day where the air conditioner can get a LITTLE breather. September 13th is also the first NFL Sunday of the regular season so I have two things to look forward to.

Hottest Summer Dates in Wichita Falls History (June-August)

For those of you that see these triple digit temperatures the next few days. Let this be a reminder it can be worse, much worse. These are the highest temperatures on record in Wichita Falls history.

• 117 Degrees (June 28, 1980)
• 116 Degrees (June 27, 1980)
• 114 Degrees (July 3, 1980...July 2, 1980...June 25, 1980...July 15, 1978)
• 113 Degrees (July 1, 1980...June 26, 1980...August 6, 1964...August 11, 1936)
