Who throws au jus? Honestly!

Wichita Falls police had an interesting arrest on Monday at the Arby's downtown. Fun fact, that location is one of three in Texas that still have the original ten gallon hat sign out front (read more on that here). Looks like a little before 5PM on Monday, 49-year-old James Leroy “Pokey” Sims walked into the Arby's wanting to use a phone.

The manager told Sims that he would not allow him to use the phone, this is when he became frustrated and grabbed a container of hot au jus and allegedly threw it into the kitchen. An employee was hit with the hot liquid on their chest, right arm, right hand, and right thigh, causing them pain. Sims would flee the scene before police arrived, but officers found him downtown shortly after.

Sims was charged with assault causing bodily injury and criminal mischief over $100 but under $750. The criminal mischief charge comes from damaging the container that contained the au jus. Arby's said the container costs around $744. Sims is being held on a $5,500 bond.

Sims apparently has a lengthy track record with the Wichita Falls police department. According to Texoma's Homepage, he has been arrested over 50 times since 1995. Assaults, theft, but Sims largest arrest total is for public intoxication at 28 times.
