Big game today for Texas Tech and College Gameday recently caught up with the star linebacker from Wichita Falls and his wife Emma Rodriguez.

Please note, I am writing this literally as the Texas Tech game is kicking off in just about thirty minutes. A lot of folks in Wichita Falls will be tuning in today to cheer on the Red Raiders because the former Rider Raider has been killing it at linebacker this season.

College Gameday Interview Jacob and Emma Rodriguez

In case you were enjoying sleeping in on New Year's Day, you might have missed the interview with Jacob and his wife on talking about giving back. We also got to see some photos of Jacob and Emma together in high school here in Wichita Falls. Back then, Jacob was the quarterback and safety for Rider. Now we're used to Jacob picking off or taking out the quarterback while he's at Texas Tech.

CBS Sports Named Jacob Rodriquez 4th Best Player in College Football Playoff

Last night before the other round of games kicked off. CBS Sports announced the 25 best players still in the college football playoff. Jacob came in at number four on their list. They said, "Rodriguez won nearly every national defensive award and shined despite being surrounded by a much-improved roster. He finished with 117 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, four interceptions and six pass breakups. Rodriguez shows excellent instincts in both run and pass defense and is a physical, reliable tackler in the box.

As mentioned earlier, I am writing this right before kickoff. The current line has Oregon favored by 2.5 points. The game will be taking place in Miami at Hard Rock Stadium.
