In not shocking news, Jacob Rodriquez was named as one of the three finalists for the best defensive player in college football.

The National College Football Awards Association announced today the finalists for all of their honors. A former Rider Raider from right here in Wichita Falls has made the cut. Below I will highlight all of the players that were named for a Texas or Oklahoma university.

Jacob Rodriquez Favorite for Chuck Bednarik Award

Jacob currently has the seventh best odds of winning the Heisman trophy which is given to the best player in College Football. Jacob has the highest odds for any defensive player for the Heisman. Many think he's the favorite for the Chuck Bednarick Award this season but we will have to wait and see during the award presentation on December 12. Texas Tech has one more game during their regular season this Saturday at West Virginia.
