Rec + Relax in Lufkin Shows Off Construction Progress with Tours, Breakfast
Back in July I posted an article about the new Rec + Relax Entertainment Venue that's coming to Lufkin. At that time, they were just getting started on the dirt work for the property. Today, they took the next big step toward opening up, and they did it in style.
Rec + Relax Foundation, On-Site Tours and Breakfast
This morning, a crew was on-site pouring concrete for the foundation of Rec + Relax. If you haven't worked construction before, that's a huge step in the process. Now, you will start to see the actual construction move along. Once the foundation is laid, the actual building can be constructed.

Yes, the foundation laying was the most important part of the morning, obviously. However, there was more going on than that. Ty Shafer, the owner of the new venue and the one spear-heading all of it, was giving on-site tours of the space and talking about all that people could expect from the new attraction.
But there was even more than that. They brought out breakfast for anyone who stopped by. There were donuts, kolaches (or pig-in-a-blankets, for those of you technical people), Chick-fil-A biscuits, juice and more. So, if you went by, you got the chance to see the work that was going on, got a tour, and you got a free breakfast. Pretty exciting stuff, right?

Work is moving right along on the new venue, and it's pretty exciting to witness. They're still aiming for an April 2027 opening date, and the way they're moving, I'd say that they can do it.
