Lufkin’s Long John Silver’s Site Sees Water Line Strike on Timberland
It was just over three months ago when we put up the first story confirming the return of Long John Silver's to Lufkin. Since then, the old building has been completely demolished and removed, and the lot it sits on has been leveled and prepared for new construction. Today, the construction crew hit a slight...let's call it an "inconvenience" during their work.
Construction Crew Hits Water Line on Timberland Drive
When I was driving down Timberland Drive in Lufkin earlier, I came across a lot - A LOT - of water on the roadway. It didn't take much investigating to realize that the water was coming from the Long John Silver's construction site.
This is what I saw:

And while that picture may not seem like too much water, this is what a zoomed-in picture showed:

Yeah, that looks like a bit more of a problem than you would like to see on a construction site.
Now, before you jump to any conclusions, let me say this: I am not making fun of the construction crew. I've been on work sites before where something like this happens. It's never a good feeling. I don't even know what happened on this site to make it gush like that. All I know is that it's not good.

I don't look for this to hinder the progress on the return of Long John Silver's, however. It will probably be a very, very minor setback, and they'll probably be right back on track tomorrow, if they don't already have it fixed now.
As of right now, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation website still has the completion date of the new Long John Silver's set for January 19, 2027, and I look for the crews to stay pretty close to that timeline, in my opinion.
