If you've got a car or truck that you're proud of and like to show off, there's an event coming up in Lufkin that you should be aware of. Plus, it's for a good cause.

Joe W. Elliott House Annual Auto Show is November 7th

There's an auto show every year in Lufkin that benefits the Joe W. Elliott House. This year's show, as usual, will be held on Saturday, November 7th at Ray's Drive-In according to the Joe W. Elliott Auto Show Facebook event page. It starts off at 10:00 AM with parking and registration of vehicles, judging of the vehicles at 11:00 AM, and then the awards ceremony is at 2:00 PM.

This year, registration costs $25 per entry. Admission to the public to go see the cars is free. Also, something else to keep in mind, there are other things going on at the auto show throughout the day, like live music and raffles.

There's also going to be a model car competition for kids as part of the auto show, too. There are two age groups for the model car competition. Kids ages 4-8 and ages 9-15 can bring any model car that they've got and enter it to win prizes. There really is something for everyone at the auto show this year.

What is the Joe W. Elliott House?

The auto show is a cool event, for sure, but like I said earlier, it's also for a good cause. If you don't know about the Joe W. Elliott House, let me give you a very quick rundown. The Joe W. Elliott House is a part of Hospice in the Pines, and what they do is offer housing - very affordable housing - to patients and their families that are getting medical treatments at hospitals in our area. According to their webpage, guests get access to private rooms and baths, with rates starting at $25 per night.
