Owl Country Coach Darren Cook Is This Week’s Community Rockstar

Well, it's that time again - time to announce a new Community Rockstar. This week's rockstar is doing awesome things for students out in Chireno. They know him pretty well in Owl country, and now you will too.

Darren Cook is This Week's Community Rockstar

This week's Community Rockstar is Darren Cook. Darren is the head boys' basketball coach in Chireno. According to the nomination we received, he's a "long time coach in Chireno and has been a positive, supportive role model for many young people." Even with a short nomination, it speaks right to why Coach Cook is this week's rockstar. Just working in the education field is a testament to why he was nominated and is deserving of the title of Community Rockstar. He's taking time to pour into the next generation on and off the court.

I did a little more digging, though, and found out that he has also been a coach at Broaddus and Garrison, among other schools. So, he's been coaching and teaching Deep East Texas students for a while.

At the end of the day, this man shows exactly what it means to be a Community Rockstar. He's doing his best to make Deep East Texas even better. And that's what makes Coach Darren Cook this week's Deep East Texas Community Rockstar.
