This Texas Town Is The Third Best Vacation City In The Nation?
It didn't make sense to me, and I don't know that it will make sense to you either. I recently came across some information on the best vacation cities in the U.S. and was glad to see a city in Texas make it in the top 5 in the nation. I was confused by which one it was.
This is the Texas town that's the third best vacation city in the nation?
Credit Where Credit Is Due...Well Done Houston, TX.
Houston Texas, at least according to the research conducted by the fine folks over at AirportParkingReservations.com, is the third best city in the nation for those on vacation.
Maybe I'm a little biased because I spent some time living in that area, and I didn't personally enjoy it all that much, but I can't see how Houston beat out all of the other options in the Lone Star State.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Houston is some kind of weird Tex-Mex flavored circle of Hell. I'm just saying, with everything else we have going on, it's supposedly the best choice to hang out at the home of Mattress Mack.
It leaves me befuddled.
So, How Did Houston Pull It Off?
I read through the article, and apparently the cost of a hotel played a big part in it. According to their research, the cost for a night snoozing in a three-star hotel is beyond affordable. In fact, they point out it was the second lowest cost on their list.
So, you have a cheap hotel room. That's a great start to a vacation, I suppose. There is a lot to do and see. It is Houston after all. It's not like you're boondocking it out in the middle of nowhere.
They also point out the amount of entertainment available, and even call out the variety of honky-tonks that exist in Houston. NASA also got a shout-out in their article.
If you're down for the kind of vacation they make family focused comedies about, it sounds like they've laid it out for you pretty well and Houston is more than willing to oblige.
I think I'll stick with my camping and maybe visit one of our two national parks, or any of our state parks.
Go 'stros...
