A new to Lubbock gun show will be this weekend (April 6th & 7th) at the South Plains Fair Grounds (105 E Broadway).

AZ Gun Show will feature dealers with the finest in modern guns, antique and collectible guns, custom knives, scopes, a massive selection of ammo, Old West collectibles, and more.

I'm looking forward to getting a nice new knife myself.

The hours of the event are as follows:

April 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

April 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is available at the door for $10 each day and children 12 and under are free. There will be no charge to park. There will also be door prizes and a free raffle.

Gun shows offer great deals on a variety of weapons, and allow for folks to get a "feel" for multiple items before landing on the piece(s) they want to take home. It's also an opportunity to pick up weapons that are no longer made, or otherwise more collectible and hard to find.

They are also entertaining for collectors like any other exhibition- be it Barbies or in this case, bullets. Gun shows can provide some great buys for shoppers, and of course, it's a great opportunity to chat with like-minded folks.

Interestingly, but perhaps not surprisingly, more guns are purchased in Texas than any other state, with an average of 1 gun per 14 adults. However, our big gun numbers mostly reflect how big of a state we are- as our gun per capita numbers are not #1. If you're a nerd for stats, you can find out a lot more about gun ownership in Texas here.
