Because of her calm and sweet demeanor and because her nails were clearly trimmed, it is speculated that Sunny was originally kept as a pet. It is illegal to keep a native bird as a pet.
This could explain how Sunny was so gravely injured- if she escaped or was released into the wild, she may not have been prepared to handle it, despite her natural intelligence.

Sunny's wing must be completely amputated, meaning she will never fly again. However, the experts at SPWRC have the expertise and compassion to give her a fulfilling life.
However, caring for a disabled raven will have many costs, including the medical expenses she's already racked up.
If you would like to help SPWRC's mission to help Sunny and other wild, native animals like her, please donate to the GoFundMe for Sunny.
