Many of us miss the days of going to rent a movie at the video store or buy the latest CD at the music store. However, there was one place where you could do both, Hastings.

Hastings was so much more than music and movies.

Actually, Hastings had so much more than just music and movies. It was also a bookstore, a comic book store, and a coffee shop, game store, and they even sold anime stuff. You could even get instruments, audio cables, and baseball cards there.

Hastings had three different locations in Victoria.

The first location was where the party stores were located, most recently Bravo Party Shop in the shopping center on Navarro. The second location was where Specs is today. This is the one where I bought most of my CD's in high school. The final location is still fresh in most of our minds, on Navarro, where Planet Fitness is today.

Hastings was the first video store that allowed you to rent while paying your fine down.

I will say a big thank you to Hastings for allowing me to rent movies while paying down my fines. In fact, I probably still have a fine balance there.  I know the music/movie store vibe is dead today, but that doesn't mean we can't miss the good old days.
This TikTok video brings back so many memories. Browsing for your favorite CD was an experience. Especially getting home and taking out the cover to find the lyrics so you could learn the song. A much simpler time.
