Bowie County Voters Reminded to Check Registration Before November Election

The Bowie County Elections Office is reminding local voters that being placed on the Texas voter registration “suspense list” does not mean they have been removed from the voter rolls or are ineligible to vote.

The suspense list is used when election officials cannot confirm a voter’s current residential address. This can happen when election-related mail is returned by the U.S. Postal Service as undeliverable or when a voter does not respond to an address-confirmation notice.

Suspense List Voters Can Still Vote

Voters who are on the suspense list remain registered voters and retain their right to participate in elections.

However, anyone who is still on the suspense list when they go to the polls will be required to complete a Statement of Residence. Once the voter completes the required process and establishes that they are eligible to vote in the county and precinct, they may cast their ballot.

Bowie County Voter Registrar Pat McCoy encourages voters to check their registration information now, particularly those who have recently moved.

“We want voters to understand that being on the suspense list does not mean they cannot vote,” McCoy said. “We encourage everyone to verify their registration information now, especially if they have recently moved.”

Registration Deadline Is October 5

The voter registration deadline for the November 2026 election is Monday, October 5, 2026.

Texas residents can check their registration through the My Voter Portal at VoteTexas.gov. Voters who have moved should make sure their registration reflects their current residence before the deadline.

Where To Register?

Those who are not registered can obtain a voter registration application at a Texas Department of Public Safety office, public library, or through the Bowie County Elections Office. Applications can also be printed from VoteTexas.gov, signed and mailed.
