Texas A&M University Texarkana is entering a new era with a fresh look and a new brand identity designed to reflect the university’s growth and future.

A&M Texarkana officially unveiled its new branding at 10 AM this morning (Monday, August 10). This has been in the making for a year. A year long process of creating the designs and listening to feedback from students, faculty, staff, alumni and others.

This rebranding includes updated university and athletic logos and marks, new word marks and fonts, along with a revamped official color scheme. One of the big changes also includes dropping the dash from all versions of the university’s name. It is no longer Texas A&M - Texarkana; it is now simply A&M Texarkana.

University President Dr. Ross Alexander said in a press release,

It is time for this university to have a strong identity of its own, while maintaining the standard of excellence associated with the A&M System. This new brand is instantly recognizable and representative of the greatness that is A&M Texarkana. Throughout the past year, we have worked closely with students, faculty, staff, alumni, university stakeholders, and community members to develop new branding that is as strong and unique as our university, while still honoring our deep A&M connection.

The new branding comes as the university continues to grow, including the construction of new facilities and its transition to NCAA Division II athletics.

Ali Akram, a student-athlete on the Eagles men’s soccer team, said

With all of the great things happening at the university, including the new facilities being built and the transition to NCAA Division II, this is the perfect time for the new branding. I’m excited to wear the new logo and represent this new era of Eagles athletics.

A Collaborative Effort

The university said the new brand was created with input from the people who make up the A&M Texarkana community.

Josh Yohn, A&M-Texarkana Executive Director of Marketing, said it was a collaborative effort and it was important to involve the people who are the heart and soul of the university. The logo, he stated,

It is bold and strong, honors our proud history as part of The Texas A&M University System, and reflects our history, who we are today, and where we’re headed in the future. We’re incredibly proud to share it with the world. Soar Eagles!

This is exciting for A&M Texarkana. It is definitely finding its new identity as it grows and brings more pride not only to the university but to our entire community. Check out a couple of the new logos below that you will be seeing.
