How the Texarkana Walk to End Alzheimer’s Brings Us Closer to a Cure

Now is the time to register for this walk and start raising money. Get a team together or walk on your own; this walk is about raising money for research. The more research, the greater the chance of finding a cure for this horrible disease. We are getting closer; through research, there are now medications available that help slow the progression of the disease while more medications are still being developed.

That is why this walk is so important. It's also important for the people who are suffering through it and for the ones who have lost loved ones to this disease. It gives them the chance to come together and know they are not alone.

I walked last year with a childhood friend. We both lost a parent to this awful disease, and I also lost a brother to it. If you've experienced the same loss, then you know how heart-wrenching Alzheimer's is. You see your loved one disappear as their memories disappear. They lose their memories of their childhood, their friendships, their family. They lose their memory of you.
