Infant Held in Passenger Seat Suffers Serious Injuries From Car Accident
The Lubbock Police Department is investigating a crash that sent a 3-month-old, who was being held in the passenger seat, to the hospital with serious injuries.
Wednesday evening, officers responded to reports of a two vehicle crash in the 1800 block of Guava Avenue. Police say at approximately 5 p.m, a pickup-truck was stopped at the southbound stop sign on Guava Avenue at east 19th Street when a trailblazer was traveling southbound on Guava Avenue and rear ended the pickup.
The impact of the collision sent both vehicles across the intersection. The trailblazer continued to travel off the road, coming to a complete stop only after striking a tree.
There were two other occupants in the trailblazer: The driver, a 19-year-old female, and a 15-year-old female passenger.
The infant was being held by the 15-year-old in the passenger seat at the time of the crash.
Both females suffered minor injuries. The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured.
