Here’s What We Know About the Lubbock Breakfast House Shooting
On Wednesday, January 11th, Lubbock police provided more information concerning a shooting that happened the day before at the Breakfast House at 7006 University Avenue.
LPD officers originally responded to reports of a shooting outside the restaurant a bit after 12 p.m. and found the victim, now identified as 37-year-old Christopher Ray Garcia, dead. He was found inside of a vehicle. Originally, it was said that Garcia had suffered serious injuries, but police confirmed later that he had died.
Police have determined through their investigation that originally there were three people inside the vehicle. At some point, there was an altercation between Garcia and another passenger, and it ended with Garcia being shot.
The driver told police that the shooter then fled on foot. However, it's unclear whether or not the driver pulled over to let the suspect out or if they exited the vehicle while it was moving. The driver eventually pulled over into the parking lot of the restaurant to call for help.
No information has been released to the public concerning the suspect's identity, but police say that there is no danger to the public.
