The Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and Governor Greg Abbott will be in attendance.

The ceremony will take place on Friday, April 22nd and will kick of at 2 p.m.

Back in September of 2018, the Texas High Education Coordinating Board approved the creation of the School of Veterinary Medicine. Then in May of 2019, the state legislature appropriated $17.35 million to TTU and directed the institution to undertake the steps necessary to open the School of Veterinary Medicine for students. Soon after, Governor Abbott signed the appropriation and the THECB authorized TTU to implement the DVM degree.

Greg Abbott is scheduled to speak at the ribbon-cutting ceremony as well as Texas Tech President Dr. Lawrence Schovanec, Chancellor Tedd Mitchell and many others.

If you wish to watch a livestream of the event, you can do so at TTU.edu/livestream.
