Former Texas Tech outfielder Mikey Kenney will make her professional debut with the Dallas Charge as the team begins its inaugural season as a member of the National Pro Fastpitch League (NPF).

Kenney signed with the Charge in March. She is one of five outfielders who will be competing for playing time.

The Charge will open their series against the Rebellion with a 7 p.m. first pitch Wednesday evening at The Ballfields at Craig Ranch located in McKinney. Dallas begins the 2015 season with a seven-game homestand as defending NPF champion USSSA Pride arrives in the metroplex for a June 6-9 series.

Kenney is a  three-time All-Big 12 honoree. She finished a four-year career at Texas Tech in 2013 as the school’s all-time leader for career home runs, RBI and runs scored and ranks among the top five for batting average, at-bats, hits, doubles, stolen bases and walks. Her .326 batting average is the second-highest for a four-year player in Texas Tech history.

Kenney played in 226 games from her spot in centerfield during her time within the Texas Tech lineup.

During this time, Texas Tech advanced to three NCAA Regionals and won 151 games. The Red Raiders had not previously advanced to the postseason since 2001.

The Arvada, Colorado native is one of several former Red Raiders who have played professionally, including Emily Bledsoe and Adriana Perez, both former teammates of Kenney. She is the first Red Raider in school history to play in the NPF.
