ADA Hosts 4th Annual Fajita Fest [INTERVIEW]
The Executive Director of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Martha Atwood and Coordinator for Fajita Fest Kelsey McGee joined Lubbock's First News on Tuesday (Aug. 11).
"This is our fourth year to partner with Abuelo's," said McGee. "We're really excited to host this event again."
The money that is raised during Fajita Fest is put into research, information and advocacy.
The organization has funded research at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, including cutting-edge type 1 (or juvenile) diabetes research and research for wounds that won't heal with diabetes.
"One of the things that I do that's probably the most exciting and challenging and rewarding is I go visit all the kiddos and teens in the hospital who have type 1 diabetes," said Atwood.
The ADA will be hosting Fajita Fest on Tuesday, August 18 at Abuelo's on the patio beginning at 5 p.m. with music and entertainment. Tickets are available in advance at any of the First Bank and Trust locations or may be purchased at the door.
