This year, 4th on Broadway will be stepping it up with a three-day, fun-filled event. Lubbock will be celebrating the weekend starting Saturday leading up to the big parade and fireworks Show. There's a new parade route and plenty to do.

Here are the events planned for the holiday weekend:

This Saturday will be the Amigo’s La Raza on the Plaza featuring La Mafia & A.B. Quintanilla Y Los Kumbia King Allstarz. Sunday, July 3, is the Texas Country Street Dance on the Square featuring The Turnpike Troubadours and The Dirty River Boys. And who could forget about the 4th of July Parade, Picnic in the Park, Fireworks Show and Evening Concert.

Gandy's Fireworks Extravaganza will start at dusk and go until 10 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to come out and enjoy the show, but make sure to bring something to sit on.

This year's parade route has changed a bit, combining the route from previous years of the parade on Broadway and the parade trail leading through Mackenzie Park. The parade will begin on Avenue M and Broadway and run east down Broadway toward Mackenzie Park. The route will continue on Broadway under the Interstate and turn into the park on Canyon Lake Drive. Then, the festivities will continue through Mackenzie Park around Canyon Lake Drive to Cesar E. Chavez Drive and end at Parkway Drive.

Stick around after the parade for vendors, food, activities and games.

Here is what you need to know about parking this year:

There will be three options to park your vehicle this year. There will be a free parking lot directly South of Mackenzie Park on Canyon Lakes Drive. Starting at 11:30 a.m, there will also be an ADA accessible Park and Ride at the Civic Center will be offered that will be $1 per person round trip. Parking will be available at the South Plains Fair Grounds as well for $5.

There will be shuttles servicing the Fair Ground parking and Civic Center Park and Ride every 15 minutes.

For those wanting to view the parade in Mackenzie Park, all shuttles for the South Plains Fairgrounds will stop around 9:15 am to ensure all loaded passengers are dropped off down at Mackenzie Park before the parade passes. Shuttles will resume once the parade has ended.

The last shuttle service to the park will take off at 9 p.m. and will resume after the fireworks show to return participants to their vehicles. Detailed parking and directions can be found at broadwayfestivals.com
