New York Yankees pitching legend Mariano Rivera will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019. Rivera was known for taking the mound to Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” but in a new interview, the athlete revealed he doesn’t listen to Metallica for religious reasons.

Rivera became the first player to be unanimously inducted into the Hall, getting the “yes” vote from all 425 ballots cast. Metallica appeared in a video to share the news, with James Hetfield saying, “We, Metallica took a vote here, and it’s unanimous. Congratulations from the entire Metallica family, Mariano, on your induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame."

“It’s well deserved,” Lars Ulrich added. “We look forward to watching you enter the Hall this summer.”

“That is amazing,” Rivera said on MLB Network. “It’s a blessing on top of blessings. I have so much respect for those guys. I met them and they’re great people. Thank God [for] everything they have done, being there for me at the moment that I retired.”

Despite being eternally attached to “Enter Sandman,” Rivera actually isn’t a fan of Metallica, as his Christian beliefs keep him away from heavy metal. “With all due respect to the guys, I’ve never been to one of [their shows],” Rivera told the NY Post. “As a Christian, with all due respect to Metallica, I don’t listen to that kind of music.”

In a 2006 New York Times interview, Rivera explained how he detached himself from “Enter Sandman” during games. “I never said I didn’t like it, but I didn’t care about the song. I didn’t pick the song. I don’t pay attention to the music. When I go in there, I’m going to business. I have a job to do, that’s it.”
