De’Vion Harmon and Kevin Obanor Shine in Win Over Louisiana Tech

It wasn't always pretty, but Texas Tech beat La Tech by nine on a tough Monday night matchup in Lubbock. The final, 64-55, was never really in doubt, but the Red Raiders could never truly pull away after looking dominant for the first 10 minutes of the game.

The veterans De'Vion Harmon and Kevin Obanor led the way with 15 points each. Obanor added 8 rebounds while Harmon added six assists, four steals, and two blocks to his box-score-filling night.

Only two Big 12 players have had at least those stats since 2010.

Texas tech finally stretched out their second-half lead with an 11-1 run that was finished by a highlight dunk from Harmon on a breakaway. Texas Tech has now won 24 straight home games, 18 straight non-conference home games, and is now 21-0 at home under head coach Mark Adams. Their last non-conference loss was to Kentucky in overtime back in 2020.

“I thought defensively we were really good early and kind of set the pace,” Head coach Mark Adams said in the postgame. “I thought we were ready to play. Now they get a lot of credit they got back in the game, but we had just so many turnovers and got sloppy with the ball instead of just taking care of our business. We've got so many young kids on the team and it's a lot of growing pains and we're going to have to get through this. Again, I'm praying for patience and I have to remember that because we did get the win and the guys played hard.”

Two more career highs happened tonight. Pop Isaacs had a career-high 10 points while Daniel Batcho had a career-high six blocked shots. He added nine points and seven boards to his solid night.

Texas Tech returns to action next week at the Maui Jim Maui Invitational. The Red Raiders open the three-day, three-game tournament against No. 10 Creighton at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 21st, with the game being televised on ESPN2.

The Red Raiders will play Creighton and then either Arkansas or Louisville. In the Championship game, they'll potentially play one of four other teams including Ohio State, Cincinnati, Arizona, and San Diego State. Regardless of if Texas Tech wins or loses, they'll play three contests.
