Crews Battled Fires in Lubbock and Near Shallowater Wednesday Morning
Crews with Lubbock Fire Rescue and various other Lubbock area volunteer firefighters battled 2 fires the morning of Wednesday, November 17th.
A grass fire was reported at around 11:30 a.m. on the north side of Clapp Park in Central Lubbock. KAMC News reports that the fire burned in an area of cattails, and that for a period of time, smoke from the fire was visible across Central Lubbock. The fire was reported to have been extinguished, but whether or not there were any injuries or damage to structures wasn't made immediately clear.
That same morning, firefighters were called to another grass fired that was located along County Road 1000 near US Highway 84. KAMC News reports
that West Carlisle, Shallowater, New Deal, Wolfforth, Buffalo Springs Lake and Woodrow fire departments were called to the scene, as well as Lubbock County road crews.
By 12:30 p.m., the fire was reportedly put out for the most part. No injuries were reported and even though multiple homes and structures nearby were threatened, they weren't damaged in the fire.
