Tuesday afternoon, the City of Lubbock Health Department announced there are 61 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Lubbock County. It's the highest single-day total since the coronavirus was first detected in Lubbock on March 16th, 2020.

Over the past week, the number of new coronavirus cases in Lubbock County reported on a per-day basis have been: 61, 37, 10, 34, 23, 15, and 16. Before Tuesday's 61 new cases, the previous single-day record was 37, which was reported three times -- on April 12th, April 15th and June 15th.

The total number of cases of COVID-19 in Lubbock County is 955: 338 active, 566 listed as recovered and 51 deaths. All information related to the number of cases of COVID-19 can be found online at: www.mylubbock.us/COVID19 

Concerning Tuesday's 61 new cases of COVID-19, the City of Lubbock Health Department has identified an outbreak of the virus among 18-25 year old adults who recently visited bars where six foot distancing between groups was not observed.

The city states the exposure dates are between June 6th-14th. Individuals who may have been exposed to the virus should monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and avoid any contact with high-risk individuals for the next 14 days, including the elderly and those with compromised immune systems.

Logie's was identified as an exposure site connected to this outbreak of COVID-19, and has been temporarily closed by the Health Department, the City said.

In addition, the City said the following bars and restaurants that are potential exposure sites which have voluntarily closed their doors to undergo Level 3 cleaning: Twin Peaks, The Lantern, Bierhaus, Chimy's, Crickets, Atomic Lounge and The Cheesecake Factory.

The City of Lubbock Health Department says they will continue to monitor the spread of COVID-19 in Lubbock and asks the public to continue with proper hygiene practices.
