Former Texas governor Rick Perry's tenure as U.S. Energy Secretary is coming to an end. Perry was appointed the 14th Energy Secretary in early 2017 soon after President Donald Trump began his term in office. This past Monday, November 25, Perry wrapped up the last of his official duties, but he will officially remain Energy Secretary until President Trump moves forward with a transition plan of either appointing a new energy secretary or elevating the current deputy energy secretary.

Earlier this week, Congressman Jodey Arrington (R- Lubbock) took to the House floor, to give Secretary Perry a proper farewell, the video of the farewell posted to his Twitter account.

In speaking about Perry, Congressman Arrington said, "We are all the better in Texas, for your leadership." Rick Perry's distinguished political career includes serving the longest stint in state history as Texas Governor, being elected Lt. Governor to George W. Bush, and being elected to other offices in the state. Perry also ran for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2012 & 2016.
