Passerby Rescues Boy From Burning Vehicle After Fatal Accident Near Petersburg
Texas DPS troopers and emergency crews responded to a deadly car accident near Petersburg on Tuesday night, Dec. 17th, 2019.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reports the accident occurred at about 9:40 p.m. on FM 789 just north of Petersburg. A vehicle, driven by 24-year-old Joshua John Hinojosa of Petersburg, was traveling in the wrong direction when it collided head on with another car.
Both vehicles came to a rest on the side of the roadway and caught on fire. A passerby pulled an 11-year-old boy out of one of the vehicles, but both drivers, including Hinojosa, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The other victim has been identified as 39-year-old Eva Margarita Corona of Smyer, Texas.
The boy that was rescued was taken to UMC in Lubbock with serious injuries and is recovering.
