Starbucks announced Sunday that they've closed seating. Only grab-and-go and drive-thru options are available now.

No more sitting around at a Starbucks in Lubbock with your laptop for at least the next two weeks. This has come down as a corporate mandate, and we confirmed it with a local store.

This is the statement from Starbucks' official website:

Starting today, Starbucks will be moving to a “to go” model in all company-owned stores in the U.S. and Canada for at least two weeks.

Here’s what you can expect:

We are pausing the use of all seating, including both the café and patio areas
Customers can still walk up and order at the counter, through the “order ahead” feature in the Starbucks app, via the drive thru and use delivery

You can follow this link for full details of other restrictions put in place to address health concerns. Things, like limiting the condiment bar and even closing some locations, are now in effect.

Starbucks is amongst the first business leading the way on responding to the coronavirus pandemic, and I think we can expect similar shifts at other eateries soon. It's time to just really focus on staying safe and healthy.
